Tiny OyoUnity @ Oyoun | Queer Analog Darkroom: Let’s Get Chemical – B/W Film Development

6.September 2023 15:00 - 19:00

Tiny Oyounity presents:
Let's Get Chemical: B/W Film Development - a workshop by Queer Analog Darkroom
Facilitated by: Ley and Anu

***

From late August to mid-October, our Tiny House travels through Berlin districts, engaging interactively with the local community and partners at cultural venues and institutions. Through a diverse range of workshops, the aim is to connect decolonial knowledge and artistic practices with marketing, design, and knowledge dissemination.

Second stop: @ Oyoun (Lucy-Lameck-Str. 32, 12049 Berlin)

***

On the 6th of September (15:00-19:00) there will be an intensive workshop on black and white film development over 4 hours taking place at Oyoun in collaboration with Queer Analog Darkroom

This is the first time the darkroom is opened to the public. There will be the opportunity to be introduced  to the chemical processes of developing a b/w film which allows a focus on elements like light, shadow, texture, and composition. Each participant gets the opportunity to shoot and develop their own film. The number of participants is limited to 8.

Film development is understood as a way to collaboratively step away from the fast-paced digital world that promotes the capitalist accumulation of pictures. Instead, there is an aim to embrace a more contemplative and humble approach to photography that fosters a deeper connection to its locality.

The workshop is being delivered by Ley and Anu as well as the Queer Analog Darkroom team.

Tickets: Free admission! | Registration here (until 5 September, 15:00 h)

Please note that spots are very limited and we appreciate you cancelling your registration in case you cannot make it.

Biography

Queer Analog Darkroom

QAD - Queer Analog Darkroom - is a self-organized, inclusive skills-sharing collective for analogue photography in Berlin. The core team consists of eight people, all of whom bring a wide range of different skills and knowledge related to photography. In addition to their queerness, it is the different identities and experiences of marginalization that connect the members of the collective and that shape their work and perspectives on photography. As part of the 'Urbane Praxis' project funding, the Queer Analog Darkroom collective, founded in 2022, wants to help shape urban public space in cooperation with Oyoun. Rooms are not accessible to everyone in the same way. The goal of the QAD collective is to create spaces for a community around analogue film development and film technology through self-organized and non-commercial work. It should be a space in which people learn together and which develops collectively step by step.
