14.Oktober 2023 12:00 - 18:00

Tiny OyoUnity presents:
Incentivora
A performance ritual by: Jaq Lisboa

From late August to mid-October, our Tiny House travels through Berlin districts, engaging interactively with the local community and partners at cultural venues and institutions. Through a diverse range of workshops, the aim is to connect decolonial knowledge and artistic practices with marketing, design, and knowledge dissemination.

Next Stop: @ Gemeinschaftshaus Gropiusstadt (Bat-Yam-Platz 1, 12353 Berlin)

***
Incentivora is an entity that arises from research on 'Contemporary Entities' addressing contemporary political and social issues, especially themes related to femininity and nature preservation. She is a supernatural and self-aware being who can access our earthly bodies. She brings messages and speaks through the body of the people who embody it. In a world where female sexuality is taboo, mainly because society is still fixed in a patriarchal and sexist system, this character breaks standards and conduct. She is the owner of her destiny. She is averse to social conventions and thirsts for justice. She is an entity linked to nature, she invites us to open our eyes to visualize our achievements on this planet. Incentivora involves an installation that encompasses a video projection and performance ritual. During her stay in Brazil in 2023 Jaq Lisboa traveled through different landscapes and met local people whom she invited to incorporate the entity in different forms.

Biography

Jaq Lisboa
Jaq Lisboa was born in Belém, Pará, in the Amazon region. She is Brazilian of Afro-Indigenous descent and deals with themes related to her ancestry. In her artistic process, she creates 'Contemporary Entities' to access conversations and reflections on political, social, and environmental subjects. She creates spiritual, emotional, poetical, and critical experiences inside the artistic context. In her work, she uses textiles and costumes in combination with installations and rituals to access different states of the body and the mind. The clothing provides protection, intimacy, and empowerment and transports the human being to other spheres, activating the imagination, creating memories, and proposing critical reflections into the contemporary context. Jaq brings personal experiences proofing that what affects every single body belongs not only to one person alone but rather to a bigger social and political context.
