Palestine Cinema Days 2023

As international news outlets, world leaders, and major social media platforms are engaging in censorship and distorting the narrative, all while perpetuating the dehumanization of Palestinians and their enduring suffering, we extend our channels in support of "Palestine Cinema Days" Festival, which was forcibly canceled.

One day after the somber anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, observed on November 2nd, and in an effort to amplify Palestinian voices, on November 3rd we are screening “Stitching Palestine” directed by Carol Mansour at 6:00 pm and “The Tale of the Three Jewels” directed by Michel Khleifi from 8:00 pm. at Oyoun., Berlin, Germany. The screenings are free of charge!

Screening Programme:

Film 1: Stitching Palestine by Carol Mansour (2017) | Arabic with English subtitles

Twelve resilient, determined and articulate women from disparate walks of life: lawyers, artists, housewives, activists, architects, and politicians stitch together the story of their homeland, of their dispossession, and of their unwavering determination that justice will prevail. Through their stories, the individual weaves into the collective, yet remaining distinctly personal. Twelve women, twelve life-spans and stories from Palestine; a land whose position was fixed on the map of the world, but is now embroidered on its face.

Film 2: The Tale of the Three Jewels by Michel Khleifi  (1995)| Arabic with English subtitles

One day, as he is bird-hunting, he becomes the hero of a modern-day tale: Yussef falls in love with Aida. To marry her, he must first find the three jewels missing from a family necklace brought from South America by the girl’s grandfather.

خـــيوط الســــــــــرد  اللغات: عربية/ ترجمة: إنجليزية.  

اثنتا عشر امرأة، يمتلكن الصمود، العزم، وبلاغة التعبير، ويأتين بها من نواحيهن المتفاوتة في الحياة: محاميات، فنانات، ربات منزل، ناشطات، مهندسات، وسياسيات، يطرزن معًا قصة وطنهن، حرمانهن، وثبوتهن على أن العدالة لا بد أن تسود يومًا. يمزج "خيوط السرد" ما بين عشق 12 امرأة فلسطينية لبلدهن وقصصهن معه قبل الانسلاخ عنه بفعل الاحتلال الإسرائيلي عام 1948 وتراث التطريز الذي يعتبرنه أحد عناصر المقاومة ويشددن على الحفاظ عليه بوصفه جزءا من الحفاظ على تراثهن.
