Workshop | Black Freedom Circle (Only BIPOC)

22.Juli 2023 13:00 - 15:00

Share, listen, and restore together. Reclaim your rights to be, belong, and become. Join us for growth and community upliftment.

*This event is for Black Bodies and Bodies of Culture (Color).

Join the transformative Black Freedom Circle, a space carefully designed to offer comfort, understanding and empowerment. Together you will embark on a journey to unravel the unspoken aspects of your experiences and create a safe and welcoming environment to share, listen, grieve, love, witness and be seen.

In this sacred space, you will prioritize the voices and stories that have been marginalized, allowing them to guide our exploration as "Bodies of Culture." Through heartfelt conversations and active engagement, you will delve into the depths of your collective narratives, uncovering the hidden wisdom and resilience embedded within your lived experiences.

Facilitated by an expert in relational processes, somatics, and group work, this circle will enable you to regulate and restore your nervous systems, offering a path to healing and rejuvenation. As you recognize, feel, and honor the profound effects of marginalization on your individual and collective bodies, you will find solace and strength in the company of fellow Black individuals who intimately understand your struggles.

This event is not about education or immediate action. Instead, it serves as a space where you deliberately slow down, allowing yourself the time and space to process, validate, and acknowledge our emotions. By nurturing your inherent rights - the right to be, to belong, and to become - you can effortlessly reclaim your identities and embark on a path towards personal and collective growth.

You are invited to join this powerful Black Freedom Circle, where your presence and participation will contribute to a collective tapestry of support, resilience, and liberation. Together, you can foster a community that uplifts and empowers one another, nurturing a sense of belonging and validation that is often denied to you in wider society.

What will we do?

The session will begin with a guided meditation to arrive in the space and connect to what you bring into the space.

Following meditation, you will have a short round of introductions. To speak your names into the circle, share where you are calling in from, and what motivates you to show up to such a space.

Then you will enter some breakout groups, where the facilitator will give some prompts to contemplate and share. Each person will have time to speak while the others attune with and witness the others' process.

Upon returning to the big group you will harvest what each group moved through and then close with another short guided meditation.
