Code of Conduct

In Oyoun there is no place for sexism, queer hostility, transphobia, any form of racism or discrimination such as anti-black, anti-Muslim racism or anti-Semitism. The same applies to any kind of violent, aggressive or abusive behavior. Oyoun offers a safe space for everyone, an open forum for dialogue and a place where we support and stand up for one another.

In order to grant this, all visitors are obliged to comply with the Code of Conduct. This reads as follows:

 

OBJECTIVE

At Oyoun we strive to create a friendly and discrimination-sensitive environment. This applies to our cooperation with each other as well as to contact with and between externals / guests of the house. The Code of Conduct is intended to provide a common basis for this, it is our consensus on the values ​​we represent.

It also serves as a guide to action. In this function, he supports everyone in aligning their behavior with binding standards and provides information about what behavior we expect and what we do not have to accept.

The Code of Conduct also includes the consequences for behavior that violates this consensus.

In the event of non-compliance with the content of the Code of Conduct, employees have the right to actively and directly issue house bans.

 

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

We actively and honestly strive not to reproduce societal mechanisms of discrimination on Oyoun's premises. We reject any form of discrimination, for example on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, origin, religion, neurological-cognitive diversity, social and economic status, individual ability or appearance in any form.

We are aware of the mechanisms of discrimination that find expression in the intersectionality that we often encounter.

Discrimination can also happen unintentionally or unconsciously. For this reason, we take perceived discrimination seriously and deal openly and appropriately self-critically with statements or behavior that are perceived as discriminatory. This also includes non-verbal forms of discrimination such as cultural appropriation.

We work cooperatively together. We try to anticipate and avoid conflicts that can arise when people live together, or to solve them cooperatively.

We reject intrusive or abusive behavior or statements in any form, both among ourselves and in dealing with guests of the house. In doing so, we respect that every person has an individual sense of what is perceived as intrusive. In order to ensure considerate interaction, we ask that you use a polite tone and volume so that nobody is disturbed.

We stand in solidarity with everyone who is treated in violation of this Code. We offer each other help and support. It doesn't matter how serious or minor a violation of our Code of Conduct that we become aware of may appear to us.
