SUMMARY:Muse\, Folded
DESCRIPTION:Muse\, Folded is a group exhibition of a collective experimental art project shared between seven artists. The title refers to the act of folding a letter in order to put it in an envelope but also refers to the expression of a business being closed down because of difficulties\, in this case\, the crisis that artistic inspirations have been going through during the time of social distancing due to a global pandemic. \nIn the limitations that have followed the virus outbreak\, many creatives came up with digital substitutes and solutions for their works from streaming to conference-call workshops to online 3D events. \nFor many of us -creator or audience- the muse that emerges from physical contact and connectivity with reality gets lost or dims profoundly and continuously in between digital gadgets\, laptops and telephones. What is often bound to engage all five senses\, reduces to sight and hearing. Interaction with the artwork is compromised profoundly. And the bombardment of same-quality\, same-aimed information wears us out in time.\nAs an experimental solution\, ‘Muse\, Folded’ involved seven artists across Berlin working in the fields of visual arts & plastic arts to take part in a cycle of mailed artworks through an expansion of time. \nEach artist created an artwork inspired by the one they received and posted it to the next artist. All throughout this process the artworks were received and sent anonymously. This as a manifestation aimed to strip the artwork of its institution and demonstrate the fundamental impact of the image as a muse. \nVernissage: 05.11.2021. 18-22pm\nExhibition: 06.11-20.11.2021\, 12-18pm\nFinissage: 20.11.2021. 18-22pm \nBook yourself a time slot to attend the Vernissage & Finissage here. \nBook yourself a time slot to visit the exhibition here. \n  \nParticipating artists: \nFarzad Akhavan\nEce Gökalp\nGolnar Kat Rahmani\nNadia Kaabi-Linke\nRamin Parvin\nGolnar Tabibzadeh\nAzar Pajuhandé\n-> IG\n-> FB  \n\nCurated by Golnar Tabibzadeh. \nThis project was a part of #OccupyOyoun. \n  \n  \n◥Please note: To take part in events at Oyoun or visit our exhibitions\, you need to have a proof of vaccination / recovery. SUMMARY:Eindrücke / Impresiones - Ausstellung
\nNuestras historias familiares transmiten no solamente relatos\, anécdotas\, leyendas\, silencios\, y demás elementos narrativos. SUMMARY:Black in Berlin x Sboutiful
SUMMARY:Liquid Rituals – nachhaltige Tanztheaterpositionen/sustainable dance theatre positions
DESCRIPTION:"Your future is our now!" is a response of many climate activists of color to the predominately white fridays for future movement. In our work we want to explore aestehetic positions on sustainability from a diverse perspective. Our starting point is the daily use of water\, it's meaning\, importance\, access and what it tells us about culture and politics globally. \nHow do we wash our hands? How do we take a shower in the morning? Do we all have running water from the tab? Is there enough water for everyone on this planet? Is water and sanitary facilities a human right? Why do we bottle water? \n→ Book your free ticket here. \nPerformer: Jota Ramos\, Mira Sanjana Sharma\, Ana Kavalis\, Alwine Klooz\, Jared Ethan Blake\, Aaron Abu Toboul. \nKonzept/Regie: Ulrike Düregger. \nPerformer*innen: Jota Ramos\, Mira Sanjana Sharma\, Ana Kavalis\, Alwine Klooz\, Jared Ethan Blake\, Aaron Abu Toboul \nConcept and directing: Ulrike DüreggerA project by Total Plural e.V. \, Afro-Deutsche Ateliers\, funded by FEB - Förderprogramm Entwicklungspolitische Bildung/ Engagement Global - Service für Entwicklungsinitiativen + Arbeitsstipendium der Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa. \n◥ Please note: To take part in events at Oyoun or visit our exhibitions\, you need to have a proof of vaccination / recovery. SUMMARY:Break & Connection
SUMMARY:Higher Self Breathwork – Let’s heal together: Celebrating Black Stories
DESCRIPTION:(English version below) \nKennt ihr euren Atem? However\, he was not happy as a rapper and decided to start all over again. With his new sense of self he moved to Berlin where he had unhealthy experiences like many others with sex\, drugs and toxic relationships. He suffered from anxiety and panic attacks which caused him to have a big breakdown. This time he asked himself the question: Who do I want to be? Accompanied by teachers from different cultures\, he embarked on a journey to find his true self.\nHe began to accept himself as he was and learned to know and love himself. The more aware he became of himself\, the more aware he became of his way of living. What he does\, with what intention\, with what consciousness. The questions of who he is\, finally has answers today. Now he wants to help people who have the same question or similar ones. As a Healing Artist he accompanies people in their processes and journey to finding self using Breath and Body Work. \n(IG:@mitu.iseeyou) \n*** \n◥ Please note: 2G Plus regulations apply to this event. SUMMARY:Manuscripts of Foreign Body(s) (screening + discussion) in Birmingham
DESCRIPTION:During the LGBT History Month UK\, Berlin based Lebanese multidisciplinary performer and social artist Ahmad BaBa will present a plethora of his bodies of work in collaboration with SHOUT Festival and Midlands Arts Centre. His work focuses on claiming more visibility for underrepresented communities such as the LGBT+ refugee community in Berlin\, and creating dance/storytelling projects. \nManuscripts of Foreign Body(s) is a documentation film of performance workshops by Ahmad BaBa and Michalina Mrozek that focuses on TLGBQIA+ bodies of colour. The bodies here are seen in their continuous duality; both as a sites of oppression and resilience. This collective workshop invited artists from different disciplines to come together and create a safe(r) space(s)\, for investigating bodies on different levels\, and bring forward narratives that speak to their own personal stories. \nAhmad BaBa collaborates with Michalina Mrozek\, a filmmaker and film educator who has been working as an independent filmmaker in Berlin since the beginning of 2013. She has many years of experience in educational work with youth and young adults as a project manager and filmmaker. For the past four years\, she has increasingly realised projects with LGBTQ+ communities that aim for more visibility and tolerance. \nAhmad is accompanied in Birmingham by his assistant director Mansur Ajang. \n \nManuscripts of Foreign Body(s) Trailer 2021 from Ahmad BaBa on Vimeo. \n→ The event is free of charge\, but registration is required. \nAbout Ahmad BaBa \nAhmad BaBa is a Lebanese visual and performance artist based in Berlin. His work is rooted in critical interdisciplinarity and anti-oppressive practices. With a performing arts background and currently working towards his MA in Dance and Movement Therapy\, Ahmad focuses on developing embodied arts and therapeutic processes. As conventional pedagogies around body work reproduce systemic oppression in institutions\, he works against viewing the effect of oppression as political mediums and complexities that fall outside of the “norm”. Ahmad's practice works to centralise lived experiences as the core element for collective transformations through approaches based on a " by us\, for us” framework\, the rewriting of bodies' stories through dance\, and redefining trauma-related oppression(s). Some of his previous projects and workshops include “Manuscripts of Foreign Body(s)”\, “Deconstructing Aesthetics of Embodiment” and “ QueeЯevolutions”. His visual performances approach identity from a critical and collective archivist perspective that revolve around understanding Queerness in relation to the multilayered Arab*Muslim identity(s). This has shown through in his work “ Ilk علق“\, which is an investigation into how queerness has become a form of colonialism\, erasing and homogenising many identities and ways of being that don’t necessarily fit under "Queer" as an umbrella term." \nInstagram // Facebook \nAbout Mansur Ajang \nMansur Ajang is a performer\, director and coach working with marginalised communities in Berlin. One focus of his work is theatre productions with long-term unemployed people that unleash the potential of people in social and economic circumstances through artistic creativity. He was trained at the Elisabethbühne of the Schauspielhaus in Salzburg. First engagements followed at the Theatre of the Young World in Leipzig\, Staatstheater Darmstadt and Ballhaus Ost Berlin. He is a member of the ensemble of the Magdeburg Theatre since 2022. Ilk is his second production with the performance artist Ahmad BaBa. \nAssistant Director: Mansur Ajang // Facebook \nAbout the residency \nAhmad BaBa’s residency with SHOUT Festival & Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) is part of the the ongoing research\, exhibition and performance project "Embodied Temporalities - tracing the memories our bodies hold" by Oyoun. \nWhat memories do our bodies hold? What can our bodies tell us about ourselves\, pasts\, and futures? Through Embodied Temporalities – Tracing the memories our bodies hold\, cultural practitioners explore identities\, belonging and embodied memories through diasporic\, decolonial and queer perspectives. It offers a community-centred approach for participants finding expression of experiences through movement while paving the way for collective healing. SUMMARY:Deconstructing the Aesthetics of Embodiment (workshops) in Birmingham
\nOur embodiment experiences differ due to gender\, race\, class\, ability and sexual orientation. Somatics and body oriented therapies/practices\, want to see all bodies as one object. However\, oppression(s) experienced by QTBIPOC\, Queer and Trans bodies of colour shape who they are. We must emphasise more on understanding oppression(s) as a form of traumas that live in the bodies\, and build toward anti-oppressive critical practices that centre lived experiences as a core witness of being in the world. Therefore\, aiming for transformation processes\, through allowing our bodies to speak for themselves\, and have spaces that aren’t titled ONLY as “safe” but to achieve safety through a collective consciousness that arises from our experiences that are often perceived as foreign. \nIn this workshops\, we will process\, using dance and movement interventions\, how we can deconstruct the ONE standardised way of having a body and being present in it\, and allowing those bodies to go beyond and bring forward the stories they hold within. The workshops will last 3 hours; including an opening circle\, several interventions and a closure/reflection round ending the session. You don't need to have dance experience. \n \nManuscript of AHMAD from Michalina on Vimeo. \n→ The event is free of charge\, but registration is required. \nAbout Ahmad BaBa \nAhmad BaBa is a Lebanese visual and performance artist based in Berlin. SUMMARY:QueeЯevolutions (screening + discussion) in Birmingham
\nQueeЯevolutions is a short film by Ahmad BaBa that rethinks queerness as a colonising tool\, shaped by its Western\, mainstream vision. Ahmad investigates often misinterpreted queer identities from the SWANA region (South-West Asia and North Africa)\, disrupting the notion of singular and one-dimensional queerness. It´s about questions like: When do we get a chance to investigate and express our queerness in our own way? How can we develop a language to speak about our complex identities? Why do we identify with a supposed „Pride“ that we haven’t achieved ourselves? These and other questions were raised by the participating artists\, who each seek in different ways within their practices to revolt against the normalising process of a one-dimensional „queerness“\, looking for ways to express\, explore\, and share unheard voices and unknown histories\, and who come together in struggle. \nThe project took place as a series of collective workshops „for us by us“ with a wide range of artists presenting themselves on their own terms. Able to represent themselves outside the white gaze\, the artists approached the experimental space of the project as a laboratory for sharing and reflecting on their experiences and ideas and as an occasion to develop collaborations with other QBIPOC individuals. \n \nQueeЯevolutions from Ahmad BaBa on Vimeo. \n→ The event is free of charge\, but registration is required. \nAbout Ahmad BaBa \nAhmad BaBa is a Lebanese visual and performance artist based in Berlin. We simply want to celebrate with artists who champion their icons\, music\, and culture. \nDoors open: 20:00  \nShow start: 22:00 \nPrice: 15\, 20\, 25\, 30 - Get your tickets on Eventbrite  \nIf you can\, please buy higher-priced tickets - it’s kind of donation prices for the Black & Brown artist community. \nFor refugees who can't afford tickets\, reach out to prince.emrah.1994@icloud.com for free access\, or pay what you can. \n*** \nAbout the artists: \nPrince Emrah (pronouns she/he) is a professional belly dancer\, a dance trainer\, a beauty&wellness student\, a make-up artist based in Berlin. SUMMARY:Fugitive Archives: Unerhört und Ungesehen
DESCRIPTION:  \nQuestioning Queer Archiving Practices \nInspired by the teachings of decolonial and queer-feminist knowledge and experiences\, we will organize a participatory workshop at Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek on Sunday\, February 27th to ask questions about alternative mediums and ontologies on queer archives that challenge dominant narratives of queer BiPOC histories. \n\nFollowing a theoretical discussion of queer and decolonial archiving by Ahmet Onat; Ilgaz Yalçınoğlu\, Merve Namlı\, and Selim Özadar will present findings from their researches that attempt to reveal the alternative narratives of the whitewashed queer nightlife history of Berlin. \n\nIn the second part of the workshop\, which will be facilitated by Bilge Emir\, the participants will look into critical strategies and queer BiPOC heritage to preserve their own histories. At the end we will discuss with the participants how public institutions\, such as libraries\, can be transformed into spaces that allow unlearning normative narratives. \n  \n  \n*** \nAhmet Onat is a sociocultural anthropology researcher born and living in Turkey. At the broadest level\, his works engaged debates around late liberal security discourses\, ephemeral archives\, refugeehood and politics of gender and sexuality in Turkey and Germany. After finishing his undergraduate degree in sociology at Koc University in Istanbul\, he followed graduate courses at Humboldt University and Free University of Berlin. As a Fulbright scholar\, he later studied at Columbia University in the Anthropology department and is currently working on his master’s thesis. \n\nBilge Emir\, typically working in illustration and video\, is a graduate of Visual Communication\, Weißensee KHB and has been based in Berlin since 2017. Her practice is shaped by combining her experiences in time and space-based media to establish multi-layered narratives of visual storytelling. Besides her solo work\, she values collective production and was part of the video collective artıkişler\, the student organization Interflugs and currently the media archiving collective bak.ma. \n\nIlgaz Yalçınoğlu is a music researcher born in Turkey who continues his research in Berlin. After completing his undergraduate education in musicology\, media studies and art history in Marburg\, he started his master's degree in musicology at Humboldt University of Berlin. His research deals with music cognition\, local music cultures\, history of popular music and sound politics. In addition to his academic research\, he organized various music events and continues his music journalism with his articles and radio programs. \n\nMerve Namlı is a Berlin-based queer-feminist journalist for the Henrich Böll Foundation\, Rosa Luxemburg Foundation\, taz blogs\, Missy Mag\, and for various international media. She works as a simultaneous interpreter for political and cultural institutions for 11 years. She curates concerts and multimedia festivals (Future East Festival\, Dümtek)\, and co-programs two monthly radio shows with and for the queer BiPOC Music Community (Cashmere Radio\, THF Radio). \n\nSelim Özadar is from Izmir and currently resides in Berlin. He works as a project manager at MitOst\, a civil society organization fostering cultural exchange across borders among Europe and neighboring regions. Since 2017\, he has co-organized several cultural projects in Germany including KuirFest Berlin and Dümtek. \nLibraries are democratic places for the entire urban society. People come together here - for exchange\, for self-development\, for co-determination\, for participation and for learning. The ZLB also wants to make queer perspectives permanently visible. With events and projects\, it also offers a platform for the LGBTIQ+ community. \n*** \n◥ Please note: 2G Plus regulations apply to this event. FFP2 Masks are mandatory at Oyoun until further notice. SUMMARY:AS* PAPANGUS Street Performance in São Paulo
DESCRIPTION:AS* PAPANGUS Street Performance in São Paulo \n- 2pm São Paulo / 7pm CET\n- street performance at Bananal arte e cultura contemporânea\n- live-streamed via Oyoun’s Instagram account \nAS* PAPANGUS is a carnival for\, by and with women* that does not objectify any marginalized body. In AS* PAPANGUS\, the Afro-Brazilian artist Bruna Amaro performs a carnival in its most queer-feminist and decolonial form\, with more than 50 women* in São Paulo and Berlin. \nIn this participatory project\, a series of performance workshops laid ground for the following acts. During the two-day workshop in São Paulo\, the artist and the participants collectively built up movements and statements for their street performance. Phrases manifesting experiences of survival\, transformation and labor\, were embroidered on the costumes handmade by Bruna Amaro and the seamstress Eliana Amaro dos Santos. \nIn the street performance on April 10\, 40 women* walk down the streets of São Paulo with the Papangu clothes on\, with the statements on their chest\, braced with handcrafted props\, and dancing to the festive music. As they let their bodies speak\, the bodies become flags of triumph. \nAS* PAPANGUS opens the first chapter of Oyoun’s curatorial focus Mightier than a Trampled Flower\, which centralizes life of women* in wars from a decolonial context and deconstructs the canonical narratives of women* in war. \n\nPerformers \nThais Aline Ferreira Lúcio da Silva\, Flávia Fernandes Belletati\, Carmen Cardoso Garcia\, Ana Paula da Paz Alves\, Juliana Bueno\, Iasmin Souza Ribeiro\, Larissa Maranho\, Clarissa Teixeira Ximenes\, Anelise Torres Blanco\, Camila de Sousa Trindade\, Gabriela Bergamasco\, Ana Luiza Chieffi\, Iara Santa Clara Coutinho\, Graciela Pereira Cruz Soares\, Mariana Queiroz da Silva\, Melissa Menezes\, Gabriela Zuculin\, Andressa Arena da Silva\, Núria Cordeiro Vieira\, Tatiana Burg Mlynarz\, Tereza Ferreira Zolli\, Verônica Borges Carneiro da Conceição\, Gabriela Raphael Duarte\, Roseli de Lima Santos\, Maíra de Souza Oliveira\, Tatiana Cristina de Argenton e Queiroz\, Alessandra Cristiane de Mello\, Natália Onori Ferraz\, Paula Montes\, Ana Lucia da Silva Santos\, Jucilene Braga Rodrigues\, Julia Lima\, Nyx Helena Tunes Zampieri\, Lourdes Arasy Benítez Espinola \nTechnical Team \nEliana Amaro dos Santos (Seamstress)\nPaula Correa Pedroso (Producer)\nYve Zolli Nolasco (Producer)\nFernanda Andrade (Videographer)\nSuellen Santana Amaral (Videographer)\nCássia Roberta Araújo de Oliveira (Photographer)\nMaria Clara Silva Loureiro (Photographer) \nFor more information about the project\, visit oyoun.de/as-papangus. \nFor the other events of AS* PAPANGUS\, click here. \nAS* PAPANGUS is supported by the Goethe-Institut São Paulo.
