DESCRIPTION:▸ About the Music Exhibition:\nThis is Mariam’s & Miriam’s pilot project at Oyoun\, with illustrations and music of BIPoc artist.\n‘w/o additives’ is a music project\, dedicated to BIPoC musicians from the past and present.\nThese musicians changed the way we listen to music without us even knowing\, let alone recognize. The project is about making those BIPoC artists visible. It contains a successive adding of artists\, made visible to you\, until the shop opening and book release in 2022. \n▸ About Mariam Al-Jwari :\nMariam was searching for a long time - searching for visibility\, representation and spaces of being and creating. Then she decided to create this on her own\, for herself and others. With her project ‘w/o additives’ she explicitly wants to offer BIPoC artists a space to develop beyond marginalization or exoticization\, deliberately without using the external perspective as a yardstick. SUMMARY:Manuscripts of Foreign Body(s): Foreign intimacies Workshops Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Manuscripts of Foreign Body(s)\, is a critical visual collective workshops-based project\, by Ahmad Baba and Michalina Mrozek\, proposing the approach of\, TLGBQIA+ bodies of color\, as manuscripts of duality; being sites of oppressions as well as sites of resilience. The project will be developed\, through organizing critical collective practices\, in two days intensive workshops\,“ Foreign intimacies Workshops Weekend “ on the 4th and 5th of September 2021 at Oyoun. \nThe workshops are platforms for experimenting and developing a communication mechanism\, from/to TQ BIPOC identifying individuals\, enhancing our own interpersonal relationships\, as well as how we can find a middle line for circulating experiences\, without judgement neither evaluation\, but more of sharing\, reflecting\, relating\, constructive criticism\, and developing something new. \nThe intimate collective workshops will invite QTBIPOC artists from different disciplines to come together and create a safe(r) space(s)\, for investigating bodies on different levels\, and bring forward narratives that speak to their own personal stories. Together we will develop a driving force that lacks in many spaces we exist in\, and see how we could focus on the discourses of resilience through the lens of our struggles\, and not the opposite. The workshops will emphasize on body politics approaches\, empowerment of bodies of color\, oneness and closeness\, and how bodies of color\, as sites of oppressions\, could develop a mechanism of defense without burning out one's mental capacities. \n*The workshops will be in English and translated into German\, Arabic and Polish. \nAnmeldung // Registration \nProgramme Saturday\n11-12:30 Decolonizing Embodiment Workshops (Dance Therapy)\nEverybody is a body\, but not everybody experiences their bodies in the same way. The intersection between race\, gender\, sexuality\, ethnicity construct our bodies and experiences that we didn’t have a choice on. The body(s)\, specifically of Color and Queer\, are at once sites of\, oppression\, resistance\, and resilience. So how can we experience embodiment with each other\, but most importantly with ourselves? And how does collective dancing or movement emphasize our individual experience(s) in our bodies and in relation to other bodies? In these series of workshops\, we will investigate body(s) from a therapeutic approach\, of how we can express what our bodies hold within\, from microaggressions to racism\, from resistance to empowerment\, so we can find our ways back to our body(s) through the movement cycles and the manifestations of our stories that we present through our body(s). \nThe workshops will go for two hours\, including an opening circle\, several interventions and a closure/reflection round ending the session. You don't need to have dance experiences. These workshops are a priority for QTBIPOC individuals\, and everybody else is welcome if they understand the space they are attending and their position in it. Since 2016\, conceptualizing and developing a pragmatic critical collective workshops and visual projects\, with QTBIPOC groups and artists\, focusing on alternative narratives for identity(s)\, and a different approach to experiences of oppression(s) that communities of color face in a western context. \n13-14:30 Rediscovering Femininity Through A Post-Colonial Lens\nThrough the colonial lens\, femininity has been warped and pathologicised as something foreign\, oppressive and weak to our bodies. We’ve been made to look down\, resent and be afraid of exploring the depths of our expression and the power it holds for us\, and the power it held for our ancestors. Through this workshop\, we will explore the experiences we’ve had with expression through our bodies\, look through the historical beauty and implications of living so unadulteratedly and using the dance form of ‘Vogue Femme’ from Ballroom culture\, which is a celebration of femininity and the allowance to be. This workshop will explore this all with sound\, movement and dance. \npowered by Mandhla - a 24 year old trans-feminine gender non-comforming performance and visual artist born and raised in Zimbabwe\, Africa. As a current resident in Berlin\, she brings a blend of experimental R&B and Soul music intertwined with visual projections and performative dancing. Her art explores the daily trials that Trans*\, enby and femme* immigrant bodies experience with love\, identity\, sex and acceptance. A strong lover of fashion\, the art of vogueing and music\, she promises to bring to you an experience that takes you to a world of beauty and divine epiphanies through fierce queer representation and black femme* power. \nInterview session powered by Michalina Mrozek\nShe is a filmmaker and film educator who has been working as an independent filmmaker in Berlin since the beginning of 2013. She has many years of experience in educational work with youth and young adults as a project manager and filmmaker. For the past four years\, she has increasingly realised projects with people of LGBTQ+ orientation\, through which she has developed her own and respected style of working with queer people. \n--- \nProgramme Sunday\n11-12:30 Drag personas as Mythological creatures : Be your own Guardian angel\, Monster and Superhero\nStrategy for marginalized bodies to go against the dominant narrative when creating their drag personas. How to envision and conceptualize your drag persona. From finding the right name\, experimentation with makeups and looks\, to composing your performance. Using drag as a way of analyzing the complexities of your identities\, twisting others' projections on you\, reclaiming the parts of you that are degraded by the dominant narrative of the society. Drag begins with acknowledging the foreignness of your body. Then\, amplifying \, twisting and reclaiming it. \npowered by: Isu Mignon Mignonne (異水 謎龍 未姩) (it/it/its) - Isu questions how itself* appears in the world\, and twists it through various kinds of performance. It can be ritualistic\, it can be multi-layered\, it can be cathartic. It resurrects the invisible queer death through green screen. It wears the female figure as an anaglyph 3d illusion. It reclaims the power of instrumentalizing one’s body and praises the sacred hole through the vibration of the snake. \n13-14:30 LABORATORY OF DESIRES\nWe all feel desired or undesired in certain ways. Perceptions of gender presentation\, body shape\, skin color\, hair have an incredible influence on the way were socially perceived\, and by consequence\, desired. For people of color and trans people\, these perceptions frame all your sex experiences and often creates layers of trauma that stop you to allowing yourself to new experiences. Desires are not natural\, they’re learned. There is no such a thing as “preferences”\, desire is thought and desire is a product of the experience. For BDSM practitioners and kinksters in general\, desire can be a very tricky topic. Who’s DOM and WHO’S sub? Are some folks socially perceived as sub and others as DOM? What does being a top and being a bottom mean? What is a power bottom or a submissive top? The same way I believe gender is not a stationary state\, neither are sexual roles. I believe we’re all tied up in several social ropes and can only move in certain ways. THE DESIRE LAB is a workshop shaped as a round of discussion\, where attendants are encouraged to speak up about how we wish we were desired as we see ourselves and study them together. The lab is a small studio made in collaboration with Michelle Gutierrez (@caribe_lunar) where in group we have a space to produce visual imagery\, solo or in group\, about what we wish and we desired. The Lab will provide masks\, accessories\, lights\, toys and also people who may want to volunteer to be in the photos or videos\, or not. Or stay anonymous with masks if they wish.  Under the management of M.I.K Family\, who have newly branched into the music industry after years of success in the creative industry\, she is definitely one to look out for! \nAstan KA is an artistic performer\, rapper\, singer\, poet\, and dancer.  \nHiwot\nPoetin\, Autorin\, Umweltschutz Beraterin\, Kunsttherapeutin\, umweltbewusstes Bauwesen \nDJ: Pam Bam \nPamela Owusu-Brenyah (DJ Pam Bam) is a music consultant\, festival organiser\, and DJ\, working on an enhanced visibility of contemporary African Pop culture in Germany. With her community platform AFRO x POP she regularly offers a music festival stage for rising artists of the Afro-German scene. Pamela\, a studied political scientist\, is based in Berlin and has family roots in Ghana. Die Karriere eines Feindbildes« geht der Politikwissenschaftler und Rassismusforscher auf Spurensuche nach »Orientalika«\, so nennt Keskinkılıç Symbole\, Sprachspuren und Gegenstände\, in denen sich die hartnäckigen Klischees von »Orient« und »Okzident« spiegeln. In München studierte sie Journalismus an der Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität und an der Deutschen Journalistenschule. Anschließend arbeitete Hasters u. a. für die Tagesschau und den RBB. Mittlerweile moderiert sie die Sendung Einhundert – Stories mit Alice Hasters auf Deutschlandfunk Nova. Mit Maxi Häcke gründete sie den monatlichen erscheinenden Podcast Feuer&Brot\, indem sie über Feminismus und Popkultur sprechen. Ihr erstes Buch „Was weiße Menschen nicht über Rassismus hören wollen\, aber wissen sollten“ erschien 2019 bei hanseblau. \n\nDer DJ: Zuher aka xanax_attax hat 2018 als DJ angefangen. Er war wurde vom queer-feministischen Kollektix PxssyPalace in London ausgebildet\, von dem er Teil war. SUMMARY:THE PATH: A Participatory Public Art Project -  Exhibition + Installation + Event Series
DESCRIPTION:[deutsch unten] \nWhat do we experience in the metropoles of today's world and what do the metropoles experience? Amidst all the flux of migration\, gentrification and rapid urban change is the metropole able to contain us and vice versa? What if the paths we take every day start from nowhere and lead nowhere? Is it a togetherness that we experience or is it an 'otherness' with a potential? What are the results\, alternatives\, solutions and what can art's role be in this process? \nTHE PATH is a multidisciplinary art project that problematises the relationship between the metropole and the individual from a queer\, feminist point of view.  Inspired by the pedestrian bridges over the highways in İstanbul\, the participatory public installation at Tempelhofer Feld by Umut Azad Akkel invites the participants to an experience simulating the complex character of our co-existence with/within/despite the metropole.  \nSimilarly\, the events designed and planned around the conceptual basis of the installation\, that will take place at Tempelhofer Feld and at Oyoun will create an experiential and intellectual hub for analyzing our complex being within/with/despite the metropole. The overall perspective of the series of events will be approaching the theme from multiple views and raising critical questions about all its complexity. Mit welchen Kämpfen und Herausforderungen sehen sich die Bewohner:innen alltäglich konfrontiert? Wie können wir den urbanen Raum gemeinsam aus einer queer*feministischen Perspektive gestalten? \nTHE PATH präsentiert anhand interdisziplinärer künstlerischer Formen neben utopische Visionen auch dystopische Sorgen. Dabei werden radikal persönliche Sichtweisen auf Konzepte der urbanen Transformation\, der Gentrifizierung sowie der damit einhergehenden Dynamiken der Entfremdung und Diskriminierung vor dem Hintergrund neoliberaler Politik ergründet. \nZugleich ist es eine autobiographische Reflexion der Erfahrungen\, die der Künstler Umut Azad Akkel in den Jahren in Istanbul machte. Der erlebte existentielle Kampf führte ihn zu der Metapher des “Pfades” (The Path)\, der “von nirgendwo beginnt und nirgendwo hinführt”. Mit dem Projekt konzeptualisiert Akkel seine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit der Stadt\, indem er von Berlin nach Istanbul blickt. Die beiden Städte sind im Laufe der Geschichte durch drei große Migrationsbewegungen eng miteinander verbunden. Letztere\, die sogenannte New Wave umfasst viele junge\, insbesondere queere Menschen\, die aufgrund der politischen Lage in der Türkei von Istanbul nach Berlin kamen. “The Path” dient gerade jenen als Plattform der Solidarität\, des Austausches und des urbanen künstlerischen Neudenkens. Gemeinsam wird ein öffentlich korrespondierender Erfahrungsraum geschaffen\, der verschiedene Communities aus der Nachbarschaft aktiv mit einbezieht. \nDie Veranstaltungsreihe bietet ein umfangreiches Programm. DESCRIPTION:w/o additives' has set itself the task of creating spaces and visibility for BIPoC artists. On the exhibition evening\, this will happen on three levels - on the one hand\, there will be an exhibition that offers an insight into the musical socialisation of the founder of 'w/o additives' based on her personal biography. On the other hand\, this will take place along selected BIPoC artists who have a special significance for her and offered a surface for identification. Illustrations showing these artists and texts providing a personal insight will be on display. This will be complemented and rounded off by DECOLONOIZE\, a newly founded collective of BIPoC musicians and music lovers that offers black and artists of colour a platform for concerts and other forms of performance. The following artists will be performing: Oyèmi Noize\, Breezy and NAARI. \nBreezy \nBreezy is a Berlin-based hip hop artist on a mission to infiltrate every kiez with the exploration of race\, gender expression\, queerness\, and the universe of intersectionality. A rapper who can not only sing but an artist who pushes the boundaries of how hip hop should sound. \nBreezy embodies more than a cool breeze on a warm summer day. With her music\, the Berliner-by-choice remains constantly in motion and thus resembles an entire climate zone between pattering rainfall\, hot flashes\, purring winds and bursting thunderstorms. The interplay of hip-hop\, soul\, blues and gospel opens up the sonic space for Breezy's powerful content: As the queer daughter of a Black and a white parent\, Breezy's music explores the meaning\, boundaries and belonging of her identity. The self-designation "Mulatto Music" thereby describes the process of her self-discovery on the one hand\, but at the same time reclaims the interpretive sovereignty over this - when used as a description of others - racist term in order to establish an empowering representation of her personality as well as social belonging. \nIG: @breeezyfosheeez\nFacebook: Breezy \nNAARI \nNeeraja a.k.a NAARI\, is a musician and vocalist from New Delhi\, India. From the beginning of her career\, her voice and musicality commanded attention. Regularly releasing music on her own\, she travelled to Berlin to study composition\, where she found herself touring Italy and making a name for herself. Through this\, she reinvented her name\, deleted her music and started over with her moniker NAARI. \nThis was done to make her ethnicity\, social status and gender a little more anonymous. The single "One" was the first release under the name. The debut e.p everythingiseverything; deals with her relationship to Berlin\, sexual love and anxiety. Her music is a breath of fresh air\, that doesn't shy away from showing raw emotion. \nIG: @naarimusic\nFacebook: NAARI \nOYÈMI NOIZE (she/her) \nOYÈMI NOIZE currently residing in Berlin\, has a complex identity: black\, m and ixed-race\,east-german\, mentally ill. She’s singing songs about mental health\, love affairs and her blackness. Telling the stories of her life in an artistic way helped her finally emancipate from the outside gaze she was exposed to her whole life. After she spend the past 10 years shredding in noisy bands and touring Europe and the US\, she‘s now sharing her first lonely bedroom pop endeavors with the music world. She has been living and working in Berlin since 2017. Since 2017\, I have been doing my doctorate at the Berlin University of the Arts\, at the Faculty of Design and working in the Gropius Bau as a member of the education team. She has worked in NGOs for many years and coordinated community-based art and culture projects\, as well as human rights projects. She also curated an exhibition on the refugee problem in Berlin in 2017. She was awarded the Echoing Green (2007) and Ashoka (2012) Fellowship Prizes. \nIna Weber (*1964) lives and works in Berlin. 1989 - 94 Studies at the University of Kassel with Harry Kramer and Martin Kippenberger; since 2016 professor for sculpture at the UdK Universität der Künste\, Berlin. \nPegah Keshmirshekan is currently working and living in Berlin\, Germany. The key question that she deals with in her artistic practice is how collective identities contribute to the formation of one’s personhood in the globalized world. Pegah has co-curated events and seminars on aspects of inter-cultural practices in contemporary art such as Fava Connection and Iran101. She is also a co-founder of the initiative I.D.A. (Intersectionality\, Diversity\, Antidiscrimination) and a member of the Soltity Collective. \nPatrizia Bach is a visual artist living and working in Berlin. Her main artistic medium is drawing while she has been working on topics such as archiving\, collecting\, and re-arranging as well as approaching the city as a site of memory\, history and storage. For the past decade\, she has been focusing on long-term projects that include in-depth research processes which result in expansive drawing installations that take over architecture. She also works in several interdisciplinary collaborations\, notably with Regina Dürig. Currently\, he is a researcher at the Topological Atlas project hosted by TU Delft and a guest lecturer at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences. \nAsli Duru is an urban geographer\, cultural facilitator\, and creative practitioner. Through her work\, she aims to expand the knowledge on the embodied ways to understand and transform the spatial configurations of oppressive\, exclusionary\, discriminatory social relations. Central to this project is developing the tools to navigate the transient spatiality of the body itself as a tech-mediated\, emotionally extended and intersectionally vulnerable landscape. These questions so far have energized various research projects in Munich\, Istanbul\, Oxford\, Berlin that interrogated spatial experiences of memory\, mobility\, violence\, and more recently\, of the links between urban space and gendered mental health. \nBanu Çiçek Tülü is a researcher\, artist and DJ with a background in urban design from South-East Turkey based in Berlin. Currently a EUME Fellow of the Volkswagen Foundation at the Forum Transregionale Studien\, Berlin\, Banu continues her research on how looted and dispossessed art has shaped the legal and scholarly knowledge production on art in Turkey and the wider European context. \nAs a researcher\, Verena Niepel works on understanding relationships between contemporary artists from Turkey\, curators and actors in cultural policies in Berlin. After living and working as a journalist\, researcher and painter in Berlin and Istanbul\, Verena decided to answer those questions in a dissertation project at Newcastle University (UK) that she started in 2019. \nPersefoni Myrtsou is a visual & performance artist\, an anthropologist\, a mother\, and a feminist\, currently occupied with a PhD project exploring the migration motives and socioartistic practices of artists who work in and between Istanbul\, Athens and Berlin. In both her academic and artistic practice\, Persefoni is working on denationalizing/decolonizing dominant discourses through focusing on emic perspectives and through the artistic use of tools such as subversion\, cultural appropriation and humour. Recently\, she became engaged with peace & care activism in the Greece-Turkey context. In the name of “urban transformation”\, the city has turned into a commercial meta that only allows citizens to live in the city if they can survive between the wheels of this commercial cycle. \nThe projects "Rantİstanbul" and "Surplus of Istanbul" recorded this transformation by overlapping and working together between 2010-15. “Rantİstanbul” has recorded the urban transformation and gentrification in Tarlabaşı audiovisually by following the results of this gentrification against the people of Tarlabaşı and the reasons for this gentrification by asking what makes the buildings more valuable than the people\, who use them as accommodation. "Surplus of Istanbul" looks at the city's litter from the center of Beyoğlu city to the outskirts of Istanbul\, Umraniye\, by creating a personal map of where the litter from the people who are the usual victims of urban transformation and gentrification\, collected and reused. \nThese two projects tell the stories and show the recordings of "transformed/renewed" Istanbul that leaves the objects and people behind\, and the utopia in Gezi Park that gave rise to the resistance to this transformation. We claim that urban transformation and gentrification are not unique concepts for Istanbul\, and that this transformation continues around different axes in Berlin. That is why we plan to record and research the traces of Berlin left by urban transformation and gentrification with workshops. \n\n*** \nAfter the film screening and an inspiring conversation with the artist\, we look forward to a DJ-Set by Mobilegirl starting at 22:00. SUMMARY:DJ Performance: Mobilegirl | THE PATH
DESCRIPTION:As a DJ\, Mobilegirl (IG: @mobilegirl) is versatile but thoughtful in her selection – her style behind the decks is focused on creating a highly energetic dance floor that allows for emotionality\, for softer moments but also attention-demanding breaks and shifts; an equally fun and challenging combination that gained her traction very early on in her career and established her as an artist to watch in experimental club music – bringing about tours across Europe\, East Asia and North America and a spot on the roster of DISCWOMAN. \nReflecting her general curiosity Mobilegirl's inspirations draw from a broad pool that intentionally make her rather difficult to categorize. However\, she has made a name for herself through club edits of R&B classics; a predilection for which draws through all of her work. Another influence\, not less apparent\, are video game scores. Her fascination with the repetitive and soothing effect of music in RPGs accordingly set the foundation for her debut EP Poise released in 2017 – a string of tracks that seemed untypically mellow but were created in an effort to decelerate and invite the listener to do the same. Their project "Mapping stories" are about a playful and accessible installation\, a kind of course that deals with questions of identity and its circumstances and tries to make them tangible for as many participants as possible. The focus of the concept is the imagery of the bridge and the map\, as well as the basic assumption that people do not appropriate their surroundings\, but are in constant exchange with it and leave traces. Traces in the form of stories. \nThe stories are based on interviews with diverse people living and working in Berlin. The focus of the audiowalk is on opportunities for the participants to meet and to not meet. Together we try to dive into different narratives like stories we tell ourselves (inner narratives)\, stories we are told (societal narratives\, stories we know (cultural narratives)\, stories we share (familial and community narratives) and hopefully stories to guide us (narratives for the Future). \nFor participating please take your phone and your earphones with you to enjoy the sound design by Autoplot. DESCRIPTION:For this year’s Tag der Clubkultur La By’le has curated an event called ALL EYES ON US (Discussion & Performances Centering Queer Artists in Berlin’s Hip Hop Club Scene)  to highlight the contribution of QTIBIPOC artists in Berlin’s hip hop scene and encourage the integration and maintenance of safer spaces for queer identities in hip hop club culture. \nIXA\, MC JOSH & Ventura have given us the honor of sharing their unique experiences as queer artists in the genre of hip hop as well as in-depth perspective on the current state of the inclusion and representation of queer artists in Berlin’s hip hop scene. The discussion will be moderated by singer-songwriter & queer feminist activist Malonda; and the evening will be a mix of reflection\, celebration and community empowerment which will conclude with a DJ set by Caramel Mafia! \nALL EYES ON US is an event that centers the creative and limitless resilience of T*I*BIPOC artists in Berlin’s music scene and club culture. \nWe will be accepting donations at the door for this event. The suggested donation will be between 4-8€ (or whatever is possible for your current financial situation).⁣ \n*** \n\nMC JOSH  \nMC Josh was born in Berlin in 1990. At the age of 16 the first lyrics of the young artist were already traded in the circle of friends as a secret favorite. Shortly after\, MC Josh followed suit and presented their powerful and expressive voice in concerts and jam sessions. They rap in German and their lyrics deal with topics ranging from women's rights to social injustice. Their participation in international musical exchange projects brought MC Josh to New York\, St. Petersburg\, Cairo\, Paris and Prague. \nThey are increasingly involved in the social field and currently work with young people in a youth club in Wedding where she runs the recording studio. Currently they are working on their debut album (IG: @mc_josh__). Check out "Dein Brief". \n\nVENTURA  \nVentura\, is a German speaking homosexual rapper/songwriter from Berlin with German/Mozambican roots. His rap style is very different from other rappers. With his creative witty style\, different flows and thought provoking bars\, he is developing his very own "empire" in trap and hip-hop. Ventura wants to create an acceptance in the genre of rap regarding homosexuality and is inspirate by artist like in Nicki Minaj\, Doja Cat and Lil Nas X. (IG: mynameisventura). Check the interview. \n\nAwesome Panel discussion moderator: Malonda (she/her) is a Berlin based singer\, songwriter and electric pop diva whose work spans musical theater and her own self and co-written tracks. As well as creating music\, she is a passionate anti racist and queer feminist activist. Singing and Speaking out about topics such as gender\, sexuality and diversity\, Malonda is coming into her own as a political artist. (IG: frau_malonda). \nFabulous DJ \nCaramel Mafia with a decade of radio hosting under his belt\, Caramel Mafia has also been a club DJ for 8 years. A regular resident of Berlin’s biggest HipHop and RnB clubs\, he plays across Germany and Europe. Caramel Mafia is a regular in magazines\, being DJ of the Month in "Siegessäule" and "Blu". (...) In 2017 he introduced ͞Ratchet͟ in Berlin\, his own club night\, which is proving to be a popular feature on the Berlin circuit! Since 2017 Caramel Mafia has DJ'd internationally\, often alongside rappers\, musicians and artists. His sound and vibe can often be heard at clubs\, festivals\, pride events and fashion shows. During the Corona pandemic he continued DJ'ing over live stream events (Arte\, United We Stream) and used the time to focus on his successful Berlin based dating podcast "030-Bootycall". Bootycall has been going for more than two years now and was recently awarded one of the best LGBTQ podcasts of the year by "Siegessäule"-Magazin. SUMMARY:LOOK AT ME: Syrien in Fotografie und Erzählung - Vernissage und Diskussion
DESCRIPTION:Vernissage und Paneldisskusion mit syrischen\nFotokünstler*innen: Guevara Namer (Moderatorin/Kuratorin der Ausstellung und Fotorgrafin)\, Mohammed Badra (Panelist/Fotograf)\, Ameer Alhalbi (Panelist/Fotograf)\, Mohammed Abdullah (Panelist/Fotograf) \nDer syrische Aufstand und der darauffolgende Krieg gehören vielleicht zu den am besten dokumentierten visuellen Ereignissen der modernen Geschichte. Es gibt erschütternde Bilder\, die sich in die Psyche der Menschen eingebrannt haben. Das Bild von Aylan Kurdi\, der leblos an einem türkischen Strand liegt. Drohnenbilder von zerbombten syrischen Krankenhäusern und Städten. Aber das ist nicht alles\, was Syrien ausmacht\, und für viele Syrerinnen und Syrer werden dies nie die Bilder sein\, die ein Land oder eine Generation definieren. \nDiese Ausstellung mit 10 syrischen Fotografinnen und Fotografen soll den Beginn einer Debatte ermöglichen und einen Einblick in die persönliche Perspektive syrischer Fotografen geben\, die einige Bilder ihres Landes vor und während des Konflikts eingefangen haben. Im Zeitalter der Desinformation war es noch nie so wichtig wie heute\, Bilder aufzuschlüsseln und den Kontext zu untersuchen\, in dem sie aufgenommen wurden. Die Ausstellung soll daher Raum schaffen\, in der der fotografische Prozess und die sich daraus ergebenen ethischen Fragen diskutiert werden können und so das Gespräch über die syrische Fotografie gefördert wird. \nAm Donnerstag\, den 7. Oktober findet die feierliche Vernissage der Fotoausstellung "LOOK AT ME: 10 Scenes from Syria" mit anschließender Diskussionsrunde im Oyoun statt. Es wird simultan gedolmetscht. \n**** \nGuevara Namer (Moderatorin) ist Fotografin und Dokumentarfilmerin in Berlin. Ihre künstlerische Arbeit begann sie 2005 in ihrer Geburtsstadt Damaskus. Namer beschäftigt sich in ihren Arbeiten mit den Themen Identität\, Feminismus und Exil und wurde von mehreren internationalen Organisationen unterstützt. \nMohammed Badra (Gast/Panelist) ist ein syrischer Fotograf aus Douma und lebt in Paris. Dort studierte er Architektur und arbeitete als Sanitäter\, bevor er 2012 zur Kamera griff. \nAmeer Alhalbi (Gast/Panelist) ist in Aleppo geboren und lebt und arbeitet heute als Fotograf in Paris. 2019 schloss er die Fotoschule Speos ab. Beim Wettbewerb von World Press Photo 2017 wurde er mit dem 2. Platz für "spot news" ausgezeichnet. Seine Arbeit wurde mit mehreren internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet. \nArtino (Mohammed Abdullah) (Gast/Panelist) ist in Damaskus geboren. 2011 schloss er sich dem Aufstand in Syrien an und dokumentierte über zwei Jahre als Kriegsfotograf die syrische Revolution. Er arbeitete in verschiedenen Advocacy- und Archivinitiativen wie "The Syria Campaign" und "Mnemonic". \n**** \nWICHTIG: Für die Teilnahme ist ein tagesaktueller\, negativer Corona-Test (Schnelltest) oder ein vollständiger Impfnachweis (14 Tage nach der letzten erforderlichen Einzelimpfung\, als elektronischer Impfnachweis\, Impfpass aus Papier reicht nicht aus) oder ein Nachweis über eine Genesung (maximal 6 Monate alter positiver Test) vorzulegen. DESCRIPTION:Der syrische Aufstand und der darauffolgende Krieg gehören vielleicht zu den visuell am besten dokumentierten Ereignissen der modernen Geschichte. Es gibt erschütternde Bilder\, die sich in die Psyche der Menschen eingebrannt haben. Das Bild von Aylan Kurdi\, der leblos an einem türkischen Strand liegt. Drohnenbilder von zerbombten syrischen Krankenhäusern und Städten. Aber das ist nicht alles\, was Syrien ausmacht\, und für viele Syrer*innen werden dies nie die Bilder sein\, die ein Land oder eine Generation definieren. \nDie Ausstellung "LOOK AT ME: 10 Scenes from Syria" mit Fotografien von syrischen Fotograf*innen soll den Beginn einer Debatte ermöglichen und einen Einblick in die persönliche Perspektive syrischer Fotograf*innen geben\, die einige Bilder ihres Landes vor und während des Konflikts eingefangen haben. We are looking forward to celebrating the closing of The Path with you! \n**** \nAbout The Open Call Performances:  \nKneading the melodies by Mizgina Rengin \nMizgina Rengin sings other women's melodies\, tones\, noises\, languages and songs that are not heard\, always searching and questioning. The kneading of diasporic melodies is a tribute to build poetic bridges between now and past and to cross the border of the emotions and stories. \nDislocated – An instant movement performance  \nMovement is the insoluble unity of body and environment. Performers do not appear as subjects. The performers only help to present the internal dynamic of the environment\, installation and the people themselves\, and the floating relationship between them. \nThe road drives the crowd forward\, but also restricts the direction and the moving space. In a mobile society where everything is moving\, alternating or changing fast\, we are locating constantly in a new environment\, all of the surroundings\, people\, sounds constantly shape the space and affect our inner space\, meanwhile our origins lurk deep within us. Has contributed to art events and exhibitions in public spaces with performances and workshops in London and Istanbul. Recently she has performed live with musicians and visual artists in various cities. Next year she will be studying in the Master of Arts programme at the Berlin University of the Arts\, focusing on Sonic Arts and Sound Studies. \nSteve Schofield is a musician from UK/Australia. He mostly plays wind instruments and keyboards. Living in Berlin\, he is involved with freely improvised music performance and inter-disciplinary art projects. He sees improvised music as a fantastic language for expressing what there is to be felt in the moment of now\, a way of bringing audiences to shared places of being. Steve Schofield has performed at festivals in Australia\, Germany\, Spain\, India and Thailand. With GENES - a musical trio from Berlin - he released his debut album "Presents of Presence" in 2020\, which is available online. \n**** \nTHE PATH: A Participatory Public Art Project \nThe Path is an interdisciplinary project that problematizes the relationship between metropole and the individual from queer and feminist perspectives. The project consists of an art installation at Tempelhofer Feld\, an exhibition at Oyoun\, and a series of events at and between both locations. The title of the project originates from Umut Azad Akkel ́s multidimensional artwork with the same title that will be exhibited through the project. \nCan the metropole also contain us during the whole migration wave\, gentrification\, and rapid urban transformation? What if the paths that we walk every day start from nowhere and lead nowhere? Is what we experience a coexistence or an ́otherness ́ with a potential? DESCRIPTION:On October 8\, Zeyo - rapper\, film maker\, music producer and activist - will be premiering his debut album\, highlighting the social and political climate in Sudan\, the sound of resistance and the opposition against the Janjaweed. The government-backed militiamen gained notoriety through the brutal killing of civilians and protestors during the peaceful revolution in 2019. The album is accompanied by a large variety of musicians\, together  Zeyo is making an offering to the world and social change. For the occasion of the album release\, the renowned Sudan-based rapper Wad Almzad will be invited to host and support this premier. Both Zeyo and Wad Almzad represent voices of a Sudanese generation\, who are deconstructing and reconstructing the genre of Rap and redefining the Sudanese Rap game. The concert will be moderated by the visual artist and activist Eythar Gubara and accompanied by the Sudanese legend\, Elwalid Yousf\, and the one and only Sonic In(ter)vention\, Berlin-based global trance music formation. Ibrahim Aljrefawi will assist in the technical implementation. \nThe project has been realized by the support of Civic Lab Sudan and funded by MRI (Martin Roth Initiative)\, Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung\, Bosch Stiftung and Goethe Institute.\nThe concert will be followed by a panel discussion on Oct 10 and another concert in Pavillon Hannover on Oct 15. \nZeyo\nMustafa Elsiddig\, known as Zeyo is a Sudanese national\, born in Wad Madani. Zeyo grew up in United Arab Emirates\, in the Al-ain. He fell in love with Rap music and started pursuing it when he was 16 years old. At first\, he used to write poetry but couldn’t quite grasp the flow. Although he was in love with this art\, it was challenging\, as he is a stutterer. Until one day he played a beat he found on YouTube\, and attempted to rap on it. That’s when he discovered that he can perform\, since then he hasn’t stopped.To Zeyo music is a comfort zone. As he had had a tough childhood because of his stuttering condition\, he grew to get over it\, through making this art. By which he learned some extra skills such as\, making beats\, video editing and photography. He strives towards transforming any negativity he is subjected to into a solitude that benefits his growth. His goal is to express what he\, and others\, go through due to freedom suppression practiced by the extremist right wing government in Sudan. He also strives towards establishing a platform in his country\, to help revolutionary artists\, who are not fortunate enough to practice their artistry\, due to the hard living conditions that they go through because of the government.\n>IG: @Zeyo.Mann \nWad Almzad\nKhaled Ezzeldeen Osman Farhat\, also known as Zangola\, or Wad Almzad is born in the United Arab Emirates\, has spent most of his life and creative output in Sudan. Having worked as a DJ he received plenty of inspiration from Zeyo and by the development of the Rap scene in Sudan in the years leading up to the peaceful revolution in 2018. That encouraged him to pursue a career as a Rapper and musician. In 2019 he started with simple freestyles\, as this was the easiest way for him to spread his message of empowerment\, hope\, self-worth and community to all the Sudanese people. The concert Zangola held in December 2020 attracted an audience of three thousand fans. The following concerts had to be cancelled due to pandemic reasons and in April 2021 he held his second concert\, which was attended by another four thousand fans\, gradually growing a considerable following amongst the young Sudanese population. After having started as a self-taught amateur photographer at age 20\, she attended several workshops at the local German cultural centre - Goethe-Institut - where she joined other Sudanese photographers\, who were developing their technical and artistic skills. Her images illustrating civic engagement for human rights and specifically gender inequality of women in Sudan have been shown by internet magazines such as human rights organization Dawn MENA and by the Goethe-Institut Sudan.Further\, Gubara was pictured and quoted as part of Sudanese graffiti artist Assil Diab's team\, standing before a wall painting of a protester killed during the revolution on BBC News 'Africa Week in Pictures' in July 2019. In June 2020\, MOM Art Space in Hamburg showed her personal exhibition 'The 3rd of June'\, reflecting both political events in Khartoum before the Khartoum massacre\, as well as images of people living under the former Sudanese government. His goal is to express what he\, and others\, go through due to freedom suppression practiced by the extremist right wing government in Sudan. He also strives towards establishing a platform in his country\, to help revolutionary artists\, who are not fortunate enough to practice their artistry\, due to the hard living conditions that they go through because of the government.\n>IG: @Zeyo.Mann \nShadia Abdel-Moneim - Panel Moderation\nShadia Abdel-Moneim\, a political activist\, a fierce defender of human rights\, especially vulnerable groups\, she is one of the founders of a number of associations and initiatives as resistance bodies to the Bashir regime throughout the 30 years of the bloody dictatorial Islamic regime in Sudan. She worked closely with a number of women's and youth groups in conflict areas for peace and justice. Today\, after the revolution\, she is struggling with groups of Sudanese activists inside Sudan and in diaspora in order to achieve the slogans of the revolution and establish a better reality for Sudanese people.\n> Facebook \nEythar Gubara\nGubara was born in Khartoum\, Sudan\, and holds a degree in computer engineering from a university in Saudi Arabia. After having started as a self-taught amateur photographer at age 20\, she attended several workshops at the local German cultural centre - Goethe-Institut - where she joined other Sudanese photographers\, who were developing their technical and artistic skills. Her images illustrating civic engagement for human rights and specifically gender inequality of women in Sudan have been shown by internet magazines such as human rights organization Dawn MENA and by the Goethe-Institut Sudan.Further\, Gubara was pictured and quoted as part of Sudanese graffiti artist Assil Diab's team\, standing before a wall painting of a protester killed during the revolution on BBC News 'Africa Week in Pictures' in July 2019. In June 2020\, MOM Art Space in Hamburg showed her personal exhibition 'The 3rd of June'\, reflecting both political events in Khartoum before the Khartoum massacre\, as well as images of people living under the former Sudanese government. In 2021\, she was featured among other contemporary Sudanese photographers in the French book Soudan 2019\, année zéro.\n>IG: @eythar_gubara_ \nIbrahim Aljrefawi\nA Sudanese writer\, content creator and filmmaker based in Germany. Hinweis: Die Veranstaltung findet auf Deutsch statt. \nWelche politischen Handlungsoptionen hat Deutschland? \n\nSchätzungsweise eine halbe Million Tote\, unzählige Kriegsversehrte und Millionen Geflüchtete im In- und Ausland: Zehn Jahre nach dem Beginn des Aufstands gegen Machthaber Assad ist Syrien ein verwüstetes und verarmtes Land. Mit unvorstellbarer Gewalt hat das Regime den Bürgerkrieg\, der zwischenzeitlich Züge eines Stellvertreterkriegs internationaler und regionaler Mächte annahm\, zu seinen Gunsten entscheiden können und kontrolliert inzwischen wieder den Großteil des geschundenen Landes. \nWährend eine verhandelte Konfliktlösung\, gar nationale Aussöhnung sowie die Rückkehr der ins Ausland geflohenen Syrer*innen nicht in Sicht ist\, so schweigen doch inzwischen - zumindest - weitgehend die Waffen. \nDer Umgang mit Syriens Regime und vor allem die Frage nach einem europäischen Engagement beim Wiederaufbau Syriens stellt auch Deutschlands Außen- und Entwicklungspolitik vor ein politisches Dilemma. Vor ihrer Tätigkeit am Max Planck Institut war Engelcke "fellow" am Islamic Legal Studies Program der Harvard Law School sowie am Lichtenberg-Kolleg des Göttingen Institute of Advanced Study. \nDr. André Bank (Panelist) ist Senior Research Fellow am GIGA Institut für Nahost-Studien in Hamburg. Zu seinen Arbeits- und Forschungsschwerpunkten zählen Autoritarismus und Konfliktdynamiken im Nahen Osten\, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Syrien und seinen Nachbarstaaten. \nDr. Andreas Reinicke Botschafter a.D. (Panelist) blickt auf eine lange diplomatische Laufbahn zurück. So war er u.a. von 2008-2012 deutscher Botschafter in Syrien und von 2012-2013 EU-Sonderbeauftragter für den Friedensprozess im Nahen Osten. 2021 wurde er als Direktor des Deutschen Orient Instituts berufen. \nFerdinand Dürr (Panelist) ist Geschäftsführer und Mitgründer der deutsch-syrischen Solidaritätsinitiative „Adopt a Revolution“\, die seit 2011 mehr als 40 syrische zivile Gruppen in ihrer Arbeit unterstützt haben. Zuvor war Dürr als Campaigner zum Thema Klimawandel tätig. \n**** \nDiese Veranstaltung ist eine Kooperation der Büros Beirut und Berlin der Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit (IG: @stiftungfuerdiefreiheit) und SyriaUntold e.V. (IG: @syriauntold) \nWICHTIG: Für die Teilnahme ist ein tagesaktueller\, negativer Corona-Test (Schnelltest) oder ein vollständiger Impfnachweis (14 Tage nach der letzten erforderlichen Einzelimpfung\, als elektronischer Impfnachweis\, Impfpass aus Papier reicht nicht aus) oder ein Nachweis über eine Genesung (maximal 6 Monate alter positiver Test) vorzulegen.
