DESCRIPTION:To those Exiled from Earth\, so they chose the sky إلى من كانت منفاھم الأرض، فاختاروا السماء  \n(’أجسَادٌ مِن عَلَق) Our Queer future is a past tense’ is an installation performance in a form of a promenade\, based on a post migration perspective on Queerness in relation to Arab* Identity(s). As a term\, Queerness does not exist in Arabic. However\, it does and did exist as a practice\, one that goes back further than the global queerness; that Western hegemony imposed on the globe. The language of queerness becomes hegemonic through erasing identities that existed before it and subsuming/substituting vast and complex communities\, histories\, and languages across the globe with a monolithic\, generalizing Western model of understanding and approaching sexual and gender diversity. Ahmad Baba will take the audience through a journey between different temporal and spatial dimensions of "queer" existence. : an invisible past\, incorporating linguistic\, social\, cultural\, and religious elements on erotic\, sexual and "non-normative" discourses from classical Arab* manuscripts. Into a distorted present that challenge the hegemony of Western narratives about Arabo-Islamic sexual and gender identities\, Towards imagining a utopic future that holds more questions than offer answers. “Ilk علق” is an attempt to engage with these questions! We will get back to you as soon as possible. \nBiography \nAhmad Baba  \nAhmad Baba is an Lebanese multidisciplinary performance artist\, body politics researcher\, and dance therapist\, who is based in Berlin. Employing a critical approach to art practices\, he meticulously constructs performances that are multilayered\, utilizing the body as an archive to connect the past and reimagine the question of future\, reshaping virtual realities through the incorporation of multimedia\, dance\, and interactive elements. Baba’s work is firmly grounded in his interest in non-western manuscripts\, which serves as a foundation for inquiries into power structures\, taxonomies of identities\, and relational methodologies. His performances are exquisitely personalized\, reflecting his unique experiences and worldview\, and seek to disrupt conventional pedagogies around performance and body work that perpetuate hegemonic ideologies. Beyond his prodigious work as a performance artist\, Baba holds an MA in Dance Movement Therapy\, where his focus lies in the use of accessible body psychotherapy as critical tools for both individual and collective transformation on mental and emotional levels. Februar 2023 die Kandidat*innen der SPD\, Grünen\, LINKEN\, CDU und FDP zu fragen\, was sie für die deutsch-arabischen Community tun wird. \nSie haben über 20 Forderungen an die Politik gestellt. From the creation of social constructs like race to justify slavery and racial hierarchies to minstrel shows and negative depictions of Africa\, we can see the cynicism created when Black and Brown people don't own their narratives. \nThose on the frontline of the fight against white supremacy and institutional racism realize that allyship is essential to win this battle. However\, they often wonder if they are savvy enough to raise our voices. \nSix short films centering the Black experience were curated from the U.S.A\, Canada\, U.K. and Uganda after a worldwide open call. After watching each film\, the audience is asked to determine which perspective the film was created from. Founded in 2021\, Pretty Gang quickly gained popularity with their fun shows\, which combine music and dance. In 2022 Pretty Gang played the well-known HÖR Berlin format and made history by being the first DJs to represent authentic Dancehall and Soca music on the platform. The collective was founded to combat the lack of visibility of FLINTA* and BIPOC* from the Caribbean & African diaspora in the German Dancehall & Soca scene and is looking to welcoming more members in the future. \nPam bam \nPam bam is a Berlin-based music selector who began her journey in Ghana. When she stood behind the decks for the first time in Accra\, it was all about sharing her passion and love for good music – especially Old School Hip Hop and RnB. Spending almost two years in Ghana\, she encountered Afrobeats and Afro House — which has influenced her djing to the bone. Her musical selection is East & West coast meets electronic dance music from African metropoles such as Lagos\, Accra\, Luanda\, and Johannesburg. Linking her Hip-hop background and African roots together\, Pam Bam has a unique and boppy sound that no one can resist dancing to. #PAMBAMSOUND \nFor Pam Bam\, it is all about making people dance\, losing themselves in time and space\, and sharing and promoting the richness of African contemporary music across the globe. \nSamrai\n\nProducer\, DJ\, Educator & Director (Balraj) Samrai is one of the founding members of Manchester’s Swing Ting party and record label – profiled by the Guardian\, Resident Advisor\, FACT magazine & Bandcamp Daily. He's also the co-founder of SEEN Magazine created by global majority and marginalised communities which aims to celebrate unheard voices and stories. Samrai has been a guest on BBC Asian Network\, Radio 1\, 1Xtra & BBC 6 Music as well as co-hosting a radio show on NTS Live. DESCRIPTION:The etymology of the Root word ‘Ngoma’ is found amongst many nations’ tribes and\nregions in southern\, central and West Africa. Janzen argued that Ngoma is a proto-\nBantu cognate within which exists an ecology of related institutions such as the\npractice of medicine\, divination\, crafts\, music\, and ritual. Kwasukasukela Arts Collective practices and believes that Ngoma is a proto-Bantu consciousness that predates any forms of animism\,\nreligion\, or spiritual practice on the African Continent. Therefore\, the artistic\nexpression of Ngoma can be treated as a key to unlocking the medicinal and spiritual\nrichness of our ancient ancestry through its practice. \nThus\, Kwasukasukela Arts Collective will hope to explore this richness through 2\ndays of co-creative workshops in Berlin at Oyoun on the 24 and 25 of January 2023.\nThrough outlining the many properties sound medicine and movement medicine\nhave\, we will aim to co-curate and facilitate a congregation of Ngoma as an\nAfrocentric path of enlightenment. He graduated from the University of Cape Town [UCT] (2015) with a\nDiploma in Dance Education\, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Dance Studies\nFET) (2019)\, an Honours degree in Applied Theatre & Dance (2021)\, and is\ncurrently a Masters candidate in Music at the same university.\nTrained in (South) African indigenous forms of dance\, he seamlessly blends his\nroots with his knowledge in western contemporary and African contemporary\ndance/movement. His work seeks to explore the dissemination of knowledge\nthrough African folk music and various aesthetics of African traditional dance\,\nthereby within this context\, interpreting music and dance as indigenous schools of\nthought. His interest in the spiritual within sound and movement is a key component\nthat helps him navigate through teaching\, and movement facilitations in his practice.\nCebolenkosi has been involved in numerous projects in and outside South Africa. He\nwas co-choreographed and performed at UCT Ibuyambo Orchestra called Jarabi which\ntoured Matola\, Mozambique (2016). Through the tutelage of Dr Patrick Acogny\, Zuma\nparticipated in a dance exchange programme at Ecole des Sables\, in Toubab Dialaw\,\nSenegal (2016) where he collaborated with Fannie Falk Faye and seven other dancers\nto create a short film called “DIG IT” which showed at the Stockholm Dansfilm Festival\n(2017). As a freelancer at Sibonelo Dance Project in Cape Town (2016) he taught\nAfrican contemporary dance in their development programme\, and performed with the\ncompany in “1976 Spirits”\, a production curated by Mandla Mbothwe at Artscape\nTheatre\, and “Abangabonwa” (which won the National Arts Festival 2016 Standing\nOvation award) at the Kasi 2 Kasi festival\, Cape Town. That same year\, was a resident\nartist at UCT: South African College of Music’s African Music department\, he taught\nAfrican indigenous dance\, and taught a master class at UCT: School of Dance.\nWorking for Vuyani Dance Theatre\, as an apprentice (2017)\, he made his mark with the\ncompany as he danced alongside Gregory Maqoma in a successful season premiere of\nMaqoma’s award-winning Cion\, at The Market Theatre.\nHe is now a full-time artist at Kwasukasukela Arts Collective\, an organisation he co-\nfounded in 2016\, where he and the Collective have performed their work Umsamo at\nthe Dance Umbrella Africa at the South African State Theatre\, Pretoria\, Theatre Arts\nAdmin Collective\, Cape Town (2019)\, and Northern Cape Theatre (2021)\, and; a recent\noffering Sicel’ Ukukhanya at (Un)Infecting the City (2021). Since then he has also\nworked with internationally renounced artists such as Shane Cooper\, Mbuso Khoza\,\nJonno Sweetman\, Linda Sikhakhane\, Msaki\, and Nduduzo Makhathini. \nNkosenathi Ernie Koela \nNkosenathi Ernie Koela is a Ph.D candidate specializing in\nindigenous music therapies at the University of Cape Town. Koela’s interdisciplinary\npractice encompasses being an Afrikan multi-instrumentalist\, he explores how\nhealing practices through sound\, creates space that manifests spiritually and\nmaterially. Koela has been a performer and instrumentalist for over 16 years\, and\nplays multitude of indigenous instruments from around the world. He also teaches\nothers how to play traditional instruments with strong emphasis on the instruments\nh’story\, spiritual significance and importance.\n \nThis he does as testament to his ancestry\, the long line/s of traditional\ninstrumentalists\, diviners/ healers (amaGqirha namaXhwele) that run in his family\,\nwho are masters of traditional San\, Bantu\, and Nguni music/heritage. This multiplicity and migration inform her way of seeing and existing\, manifesting as a creative practice\, at the intersection of music\, theatre\, movement and medicine. Coming from a biochemistry background\, Nane’s connection with nature\, belonging and the un-natural converges as a curiosity exploring the dynamic interactions between living organisms\, intangible belonging and the tangible ecologies of being. Myth making and ancestral knowledge preservation are explored in her practice\, where aspects concerning transformation care and healing are at the center. Ihr gelingt es scheinbar mühelos\, Einflüsse aus Jazz und Klassik mit Soul und Arabisch-Andalusischen Elementen auf äußerst kunstvolle Art und Weise zu verbinden\, wobei die Summe ihrer individuellen und verschiedenartigen musikalischen Erfahrungen erkennbar den Ausschlag gibt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist hierbei\, dass  Belmokh mit legendären Dirigenten wie Lorin Maazel und Daniel Barenboim zusammengearbeitet hat und mit Cirque du Soleil auf internationalen Tourneen aufgetreten ist. Mit verletzlicher\, mal sonorer Stimme und ihrem virtuos-charismatischen Cellospiel entführt sie uns leichtfüssig in ferne Klang-Welten. \nIhr Debütalbum Ahlam führte sie 2018 von Festivals und Konzerthäusern ihrer Wahlheimat Spanien über klassische Häuser bis zu zahllosen weiteren Auftritten in Deutschland\, Österreich\, der Schweiz\, Frankreich\, Großbritannien\, den Niederlanden\, der Türkei und Rumänien. 2020 erschien ihr Soloalbum Nesrine. Belmokh ist außerdem auch auf Alben von Jean-Sébastien Simonoviez (unter anderem im Streichquartett Quatuor Opus 33) und mit der Jazzrausch Bigband auf téchne zu hören. \n  \nBabylon ORCHESTRA (Orchester)\nBabylon ORCHESTRA ist ein junges Berliner Ensemble für urbane nahöstliche Musik - bestehend aus zirka 15 MusikerInnen und SängerInnen aus Syrien\, Iran\, Irak\, Israel\, Russland\, Italien\, Frankreich\, Kurdistan und Deutschland. Die Idee zu dessen Gründung kam Mischa Tangian und Sofia Surgutschowa Anfang 2016\, als sie nach einer ganz persönlichen Antwort und Reaktion auf eine sich verändernde Welt mit neuen Formen des kulturellen Miteinanders suchten. \nZiel des Orchesters ist es\, den künstlerischen Austausch zwischen den musikalischen Kulturen des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens und den musikalischen Kulturen Europas zu fördern. Das Ensemble erarbeitet ein Repertoire\, das eine Verbindung zwischen traditioneller nahöstlicher Musik und zeitgenössisch-moderner Musik mit urbanen Elementen der Berliner Musikszene in Einklang bringt. Im Vordergrund stehen zeitgenössische Kompositionen von KomponistInnen\, die für Babylon ORCHESTRA schreiben oder ihre existierenden Werke an die Besetzung anpassen. Some session animals follow us since the very beginning\, became real friends\, also during sunlight. We have been celebrating birthdays and baking each other cakes\, following personal histories.
