Tiny OyoUnity

Design concept: Ronak Jundi

Oyoun's Tiny House is going on tour!

Between the end of August and mid-October, our Tiny House will be travelling through various Berlin districts. For one week at a time, we stop at different cultural places and institutions and interact with the surrounding urban space, the neighbourhood and local partners.

You can expect an extensive program with recurring workshops on podcasting Hamam Talk, mix taping with Maurice Leoni-Osion and photography with Queer Analog Darkroom, as well as pop-up exhibitions and performances. Together we want to network with the various neighborhoods, local actors and artists, create meeting places and break down barriers.

The Oyoun team has developed a workshop series that combines different practices of decolonial and collective knowledge production and transfer with topics such as marketing, promotion, artistic interventions, design, layout and the creation of artistic bios. Together with interested artists and cultural workers, we develop individual electronic press kits that serve as digital business cards.

Below is an overview of all Tiny Oyounity dates, workshops and tour stops, which is updated regularly. The registration masks for the workshops are activated approx. 2 weeks before the events.

Admission to all workshops is free (registration required)! Please note that the places are very limited and we ask you to cancel in good time and to release your places again if you do not manage to participate.

Do you need a translation for the event? Are you dependent on an accompanying person who also participates? Do you need a sign language interpreter? Or do you need room for a wheelchair? If so, please register with us via email kommunikation@oyoun.de and we try to accommodate your needs as best we can.

week 1 | MON 28.08 – SUN 03.09.

In the first week of the tour, the Tiny House will be in the heart of the ufaFabrik in front of the neighborhood center (Viktoriastrasse 10-18, 12105 Berlin).

The ufaFabrik is a place for peace-loving people, big and small, of all nationalities, religions and professions. On the 18.500 square meter site there are several clubs, initiatives and companies that work together towards the vision of an open, tolerant and diverse life - networked, sustainable, creative. The International Cultural Center ufaFabrik promotes committed culture, cultural exchange and cultural education. Here, local and international cultures are linked and a dynamic field is created for active, creative participation in art and culture for young and old.

The neighborhood center in the ufafabrik (NUSZ) – offers support in social, health and family issues and a wide range of leisure activities. Whether in the numerous courses, self-help groups, workshops, at festivals or through voluntary work, the ufaFabrik lives from the people who want to make a difference in their personal environment.

The ZK/U is a place for art production, an artist and researcher residency and a program platform. The work of the ZK/U aims to (re)activate social and spatial relationships between individuals and groups that are separated by education, income, gender and cultural background. The aim is to bring together global discourses and local practices. The ZK/U explores the ways in which art can be a catalyst for change in urban spaces and seeks to demonstrate the feasibility of these participatory, urban artistic practices through its work.

This week the tiny house is a 5 minute walk from the Korea Association (Quitzowstrasse 103, 10551 Berlin) will be stationed remotely near the Birkenstrasse subway station in front of the Peace Statue.

The Korea Association is a non-profit association that emerged in 1990 from the democracy and solidarity movement for Korea. With a variety of forms of action, he advocates for human and civil rights, both in divided Korea, in Europe, and locally in the neighborhood. He questions power structures from a postcolonial, feminist and intersectional perspective and works with different target groups such as young people, adults, activists, multipliers, but also political decision-makers. The Korea Association is active in a variety of alliances and has a large network.

The focus of the work is currently the awareness and education work on the "comfort women" who were sexually enslaved by the Japanese military during World War II. For this purpose, the action group "Comfort Women" was founded in the Korea Federation. In September 2020, the "Trostfrauen" action group erected the Korean peace statue in Berlin-Moabit, which has since become a strong symbol of decolonial remembrance culture and against sexualised violence, and an important place for Asian diasporic communities in Berlin.
