(Self) care Wor (l) d | Alexey Kochetkov
The artistic work of Alexey Kochetkov as part of our Lockdown residency represents an emphatic and questioning act of self-care - contextualizing one's own self-care in relation to the well-being of other people in need.
Alexey on the work: What does self-care mean? I asked myself. It is important to take care of myself so that I can function better and not lose my mind during lockdown. I watched videos and read articles on the importance of healthy eating, good sleep, keeping in touch with friends and family, etc. At the same time, I couldn't stop focusing on the terrible news that was coming from all over the world. All of that got me thinking - can we really talk about self-care knowing that so many people are suffering around us? Can we take care of ourselves without worrying about others? And what action should we take when the answer to the above questions is so obvious?
