Lea Malaika's artistic work as part of our Lockdown Residency represents a courageous and reflective act of self-care - telling about self, fears, shadows and healing through music.

Lea about the work: “Schattentanz” is a sound journey through the ritual to which I dedicate myself again and again. Fears and doubts that I don't want to deal with become frightening shadows that lie in wait for me. Especially in a year in which I am forced to spend a lot more time alone and socially distant with myself, they sit on my neck. Sometimes I need longer, sometimes it's faster, but at some point I accept your invitation to dance and deal with you. My own quirks and complexes want to be seen and loved and I have to keep reminding myself that I am the only one who can really make you feel that way. It can be very exhausting and painful, especially for my ego. But until now I've blossomed and risen again after every egotot. Maybe you've felt like this before ...

In “Schattentanz” I tell with images and sound about my journey through pain, uncertainty and fear, about healing and the gift of self-love that I am making.
