Queer ping pong

Hand on the trowel and on the heart

In mid-July, Queer Ping Pong's team finally brought up the table tennis tables in the Oyoun again, set up the DJ booth and, in Gazino Neukölln, asked a more than fitting live act for the evening on the garden stage. Between beats, drinks and ping-pong balls, the focus was on table tennis as a queer sport. Rumor has it that the next round will start this year!

To the project:

"Queer Ping Pong - Hand to the trowel and heart" combines movement, music and club culture with queerness and post-migrant discourse at the table tennis table. It is a safer space for female*, non-binary, queer artists, musicians and interested people and enables a differentiated examination of the surrounding places and people opposite.

Queer Ping Pong is part of the initiative outside city. Sponsored by the Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa and the Foundation for cultural further education and cultural advice.

About the organizers:

Yesim Duman and İpek İpekcioglu are two queer migrant musicians, activists and an integral part of Berlin's club culture, who campaign for more visibility of female-read artists. In addition to a long-standing friendship and many joint projects, both share a passion for ping pong.
