Sujatro Ghosh

Sujatro Ghosh, 27, is an artist and activist currently living in Berlin. He began his work as a photojournalist mainly on topics related to women's rights, LGTBQI and the environment.

Sujatro relates: “Ever since I was a child, there has always been an inner urge within me to capture the essence of the human spirit, especially from resilient people who emerge from crises and are not ready to give up a fight.
I believe that art is the most powerful tool to portray this essence when it reflects the time in which we live. Over time, I've learned through my work that art plays an important role in helping us form opinions, clarify the truth, and change ways of thinking. That has always been the ambition behind all of my work on social issues such as queers' rights, diaspora tensions and women's rights. Capturing the narratives of their struggle, which is sometimes a result of institutionalized mechanisms of injustice, and the urgency to fight for a right cause to make a change is what I want to convey through my art.
I try to give voice to the voiceless and awaken power in the powerless."
