Ozan Atalan

After graduating from Anadolu University Faculty of Law in 2007, Ozan Atalan studied sculpture at Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Fine Arts, which he graduated in 2013. He then attended Syracuse University's School of Art as a Fulbright scholar. During his MFA studies, he expanded his art practice to include an interdisciplinary field and participated in a large number of national and international exhibitions. He also worked as an adjunct professor at Syracuse University. After receiving his MFA degree in 2016, he returned to Turkey and has since continued his art practice in Istanbul, Izmir and with international residencies and exhibitions. He is currently teaching at the Department of Visual Communications at İzmir Ekonomi University and at the Department of Film Design at Yasar University, also in İzmir, where he is currently preparing his PhD at the Faculty of Art and Design. Ozan's practice is informed by an anti-anthropocentric approach through an alienation-based exploration of human nature. Using a combination of human and non-human values, introversion and extraversion, he mainly makes multimedia installations to create alternative experiences that are realistic enough not to detach from reality, but at the same time removed enough from it to to be able to criticize them.
