Nestor Sire

Nestor Siré's artistic practice intervenes directly in social contexts in order to analyze specific cultural phenomena. His artistic methodology consists of engaging with existing social structures to explore new ways in which art can influence the complex relationships between official and informal networks. He often deals with the special peculiarities of digital culture in the Cuban context and works within the country-specific infrastructures that his fellow citizens use for the distribution of media, information and goods.
His works have been exhibited in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Havana), the Queens Museum (New York), the Rhizome (New York), the New Museum (New York), the Hong-Gah Museum (Taipei), the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Mexico City), shown at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Santa Fe (Argentina) and the Photographers' Gallery (London). He has participated in events such as Manifesta 13 Biennial (France), Gwangju Biennial (South Korea), Curitiba Biennial (Brazil), Havana Biennial (Cuba), Warsaw Biennial (Poland), Asunción International Biennial (Paraguay), the Festival of New Latin American Film in Cuba and the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen (Germany).

He lives in Havana, Cuba.
