Ipek Ipekçioğlu

The queer DJ, producer and curator İpek İpekçioğlu, who lives in Berlin and Istanbul and was born in Germany, has made a name for herself in the nightlife scenes around the world. İpek İpekçioğlu is one of the most popular and versatile DJs in Berlin's club scene and is internationally known as the Queen of Eclectic BerlinIstan.
İpek was invited to MIT, UMass Amherst, Goethe Institut Montréal with her Hybrid Identities Performance and offered workshops in cooperation with the IfA (Institute for Foreign Relations and the German Embassy Japan) at Sophia University Tokyo, MiT-Boston, Doshisha University Kyoto, DZGO Osaka.
In addition to her work as a DJ and music producer, İpek İpekçioğlu has a strong socially critical agenda that relates to women, immigrants, queer and gender issues. She focuses on contemporary, everyday topics and transports these topics into her music.
For over a decade, she has adhered to the principle of cultural-gender diversity and the shifting of borders within the ethnic and electronic music scene in all the musical events that she has curated and participated in.
This lively mix and her work have earned her a place as “one of the most important cultural figures in Berlin” [Zitty Magazine]. She proudly bears the title »Ceremony Master of Transcultural International Understanding« (Daniel Bax – TAZ).
