QAD (Queer Analog Darkroom) Get together

February 3, 2023 18:30 - 21:00

The Queer Analogue Darkroom (QAD) is finally opening the doors to the community for its first get together here at Oyoun!

Since accessing and practicing analog photography has its limits for discriminated and marginalized groups, the QAD puts emphasis on engaging with the broader community of practice.

Come and join the introduction into the project to openly exchange ideas, discuss intentions and celebrate this brave space and queer culture in photography!

There will be an introduction speech by the QAD on the 03.02.2023 at 18:30. Please try to be punctual. This event and space is for the QBIPOC and FLINTA* community. It is expected that you reflect on your everyday privileges/ your privileges in photography spaces and base your decision on whether or not this event is for you on that.

The QAD is aware of the limitations of accessing and practicing analogue photography, especially for discriminated and marginalized groups. It is all the more important for them to always establish contact with the wider community.

Come by next Friday, exchange ideas, discuss and celebrate queer culture in photography!

This event is for the Queer, BIPoC and FLINTA* community. Please reflect on your day-to-day privileges or your privileges in photography spaces before deciding whether this event is for you or not.

About QAD

QAD - Queer Analogue Darkroom - a non-profit, inclusive photography and darkroom collective for analog photography in Berlin. The core team consists of eight people each contributing a wide range of different skills and knowledge around photography. Besides their queerness that connects them, it is also their different identities and experiences of discrimination or marginalization that shape the collective work and perspectives on photography. QAD wants to make knowledge around analogue photography accessible, to those who are often denied access due to their identities and/or experiences of marginalization.

QAD - Queer Analogue Darkroom - is a self-organized, inclusive skills-sharing collective for analogue photography in Berlin. The core team consists of eight people, all of whom bring a wide range of different skills and knowledge related to photography. In addition to their queerness, it is the different identities and experiences of marginalization that connect the members of the collective and that shape their work and perspectives on photography. As part of the 'Urbane Praxis' project funding, the Queer Analog Darkroom collective, founded in 2022, wants to help shape urban public space in cooperation with Oyoun. Rooms are not accessible to everyone in the same way. The goal of the QAD collective is to create spaces for a community around analogue film development and film technology through self-organized and non-commercial work. It should be a space in which people learn together and which develops collectively step by step.
