We sing our songs for peace - concert for solidarity

Academics for Peace invites to support their “Boundless Academic Solidarity” campaign which aims to support young scientists in Turkey who have been unjustly punished by the Turkish state and lost their livelihood after they died on January 11th In 2016, the peace petition entitled "We will not be part of this crime!" had signed. Our campaign starts with a solidarity event entitled “We sing our songs for peace: solidarity concert” and consists of the testimonies of scientists for peace, talks, live music by Muhtelif, Farmagia and Ötekilerin Orkestrası and a DJ performance by Baris Cengiz.

Biographies

Founded in Istanbul in 2015 and now based in Berlin, Muhtelif plays a wide range of music in Turkish, Greek, Arabic and Armenian, from traditional to popular, from the 70s to the present day.

Farmagia consists of five musicians, enthusiasts of the genre who have a connection to traditional and improvised music, incorporating songs from the Greek tradition.

Ötekilerin Orkestrası, a Berlin-based choral collective producing protest and folk music in Turkish and Kurdish.

Barış Cengiz Born in Istanbul and living in Berlin, Baris Cengiz is not only a successful house DJ, but also works as creative director at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin.
