Building Lives in the Context of Forced Migration
Five Short Films on Migrant Lives in Berlin
Film Screening & Celebration
These five short films give intimate insights into the diverse ways individuals built up their lives in the context of forced migration in Berlin. The films emerged out of a MA Visual Anthropology seminar at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Freie Universität Berlin, that was realized in cooperation with Kollektiv Polylog, Tubman Network and LouLou – Meeting place for old and new neighbours. In line with an “Engaged Anthropology”, Syrian and Palestinian women that are part of Kollektiv Polylog, African students that have fled the Ukrainian war, and MA students at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology worked closely together for the period of several months. At the screening, we will show the results of this collaborative work, discuss the process of realizing the films – and celebrate!
In collaboration with Kollektiv Polylog (kollektivpolylog.de), tubman.network, LouLou – Meeting place for old and new neighbours & the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Freie Universität Berlin. With kind support from Dahlem Center for Academic Teaching – DCAT.
