Conversation with the activist and member of the constitutional convention Manuela Royo
The 2019 uprising in Chile was followed by a referendum on a new constitution. A directly elected constitutional convention then spent a year discussing its content. The result is the world's first social-ecological-feminist constitution. Another referendum on September 4 will decide whether it will be accepted.
Manuela Royo is visiting Europe and knows this process better than few. She helped shape it as a member of the Constitutional Convention and as Chair of its Human Rights Commission. Manuela is also the national spokesperson for the environmental movement MODATIMA, lawyer and feminist.
On Friday, 08.07. Manuela will talk about Chile's new constitution, how it came about, the upcoming referendum and the perspectives of the Chilean transformation between streets and institutions.
