As experienced inclusion experts, we research, speak and write Rebecca Maskos and Marice Kaiser for years about the topics of inclusion and disability. With their new book “Are you disabled, or what?”, the authors are now exploring the question of how inclusion can be successful from an early age. They provide important impulses for inclusion and ableism and show new ways for a fairer education and society. In keeping with the motto of the disability movement “Nothing about us, without us,” they designed this book with additional expert voices and many reports of their experiences. The book not only opens up new approaches to the topic of disability for parents and those accompanying disabled and non-disabled children - it encourages us all to think about the complex barriers and unfair opportunities for participation in our society. 

You are cordially invited to the launch of the book. Not only can you enjoy the reading by the two authors, but you can also talk to the authors about how inclusion can be achieved from an early age and what it takes for a fair and inclusive society.

Biographies 

Rebecca Maskos

Rebecca Maskos is a doctor of psychology, freelance journalist and activist in the disability movement. She researches disability studies and writes about ableism, inclusion, feminist perspectives on disability, media representations of disabled people and criticism of bioethical debates.

Marice Kaiser

Mareice Kaiser works as a journalist, author and presenter. She scrolls, writes and speaks on justice issues. She was nominated for the German Reporter Prize with her essay “The Malaise of the Modern Mother,” and her book of the same name was published in 2021 and went straight into the Spiegel bestseller list. In 2022 she was voted into the top 10 German business journalists by medium magazine and reflected on this in her book “How much. “What we do with money and what money does to us” the connection between money and origins. She lives in Berlin and on the Internet.

Slinga aka Lea Hillerzeder

The Leipzig illustrator Slinga alias Lea Hillerzeder moves extremely confidently between content-packed feminism and heartwarming cat content and is extremely funny and pointed. She has already illustrated the book “Girl, Boy, Child” and two puzzles from the Wonderpieces puzzle collection for Familiar Faces Verlag.

Max Hillerzeder

Max Hillerzeder is a comic artist and illustrator, studied graphic design and book art in Leipzig and loves making books. Together with Slinga he founded the publishing house Slinga&Zeder and raised a dachshund.
