Film + Workshop | 30 years after the racist murder attack in Mölln: where do we stand today?

November 24, 2022 13:00 AM - 17:00

This November marks the 30th anniversary of the racist assassination attempt in Mölln. In memory of the victims and on the important issue of dealing with racist attacks in the Federal Republic then and now, the Turkish Union in Berlin-Brandenburg (TBB) registered association hold a commemoration event including a workshop with the person affected, Ibrahim Arslan.

The approximately four-hour event will take place on Thursday, November 24, 2022 from 13 p.m. to 17 p.m. at the Oyoun premises (Lucy-Lameck-Straße 32, 12049 Berlin).

In the course of this, the film "The Second Attack" will be shown. "THE SECOND ATTACK documents and focuses on the perspective of those affected by this violence, which has so far received little attention. In in-depth interviews, the film develops a precise picture of the sometimes traumatic experiences that the film's protagonists went through."

Afterwards there will be an input and exchange about the attack in Mölln and the question of continuities of racist violence in Germany. This workshop will be led by the survivor of the racist arson attack in Mölln, Ibrahim Arslan.

In a second part, the question will be discussed as to whether society and politics have learned something new in dealing with recent racist-motivated assassination attempts and where there is a need for action.
