The artistic work of Mateja Meded as part of our Lockdown Residency represents an idiosyncratic and sometimes funny act of self-care - devising methods of self-sufficiency for aliens during the Corona crisis.

Mateja about the work: When the pandemic began, the slogan “We're all in it together” quickly became ubiquitous. But it soon turned out that this was just a romantic caricature of what was actually going on. Instead of leveling out socio-economic differences, existing privileges have been tightened. In the metropolises in particular, the wealthy bourgeoisie holed up in comparatively comfortable home offices and let themselves be looked after by a precarious army of so-called delivery heroes. Women with a migration background in particular found themselves in what is probably the worst situation - and still do. Their predicament is thematized by the “Alien ABC”.
